In addition to the physiological differences between Black, Hispanic (or southern European), and White skin, there are several demographic differences that surprisingly have a significant impact on acne.

The first is that the Black population in the United States-and, to a lesser extent, the Hispanic populations tend to be concentrated in areas where the climate is hotter and more humid. As you know, in these warmer climes, one tends to perspire more than in cooler areas. The act of sweating actually aggravates or increases the likelihood of acne as the excess moisture swells the skin around the pores, which blocks them, causing more acne. In other words, while Black skin is more prone to acne anyhow, it is also true that demographically Blacks often reside in “acne-genic” locations-that is, the areas of the country with high temperatures and humidity. This compounds their acne problem.

The second sociological factor is that Black men and Black women often use oil-containing hair products. These products are usually used to give added sheen and to help manageability. Since any oily product applied to the hair is likely to spread to adjacent areas, especially the forehead, neck, and upper shoulders, these hair preparations often aggravate acne.

Black women (and very occasionally Black men) often straighten their hair, a procedure that generally involves the use of harsh chemicals. Also, certain curling techniques involve the use of chemicals heat. We have no proof, but we suspect that some of these chemicals may slightly damage and dry the skin near the scalp, making it more prone to acne invasions.

Finally, more Blacks and Hispanics in the United States smoke than do Whites. And, there is no doubt that smoking, in addition to all its other negatives, aggravates acne.

Over the years we women have desired less and less hair on their bodies. The smooth silky finish we crave isn’t achieved with a razor. The answer to this is hot wax hair removal which gives a perfectly smooth finish without any shaving nicks. Increasing numbers of women are using this method now as it has become the standard hair removal system.

So why has this method of unwanted hair removal stood the test of time so well? It is not a perfect system however, but overall the benefits outweigh the failings. The quality of your skin after wax removal is not the only reason for its success; it’s also not as expensive as most new methods. Everyone knows that shaving is not the ideal method and or course if you cut yourself it doesn’t want to stop bleeding.

As always, a cut from shaving doesn’t want to stop bleeding and it will always happen just as you intend to go out. At least with wax removal you don’t have to worry about the 5pm shadow like a guy does or about little cuts. I think the biggest plus point to the hot wax hair removal process is that your hair returns thinner each time you use it. From my point of view, the more often I wax then the less the hair returns.

With shaving, the more often I do it, the worse it returns. No system is perfect and the downside to the hot wax hair removal system is there is a little discomfort but not as much as critics would have you believe. When compared to the Epilday hair removal device, you’ll understand what I mean. No woman invented this because no-one in their right mind would inflict that sort of torture on themselves. I remember using an Epilady once and that was enough; I lasted a couple of seconds and then threw it in the trash can.

One of my college room mates who was born in the country of India recommended that I go with her when she has her next hot wax hair removal treatment. I bet if you try it too, you’ll be convinced and won’t go back to the other painful methods. It’s funny when you think about the poor press wax removal systems have for causing a little discomfort. To my mind, when you consider the alternatives it really doesn’t deserve it.

The most popular method to have 365 days a year tan is by using a tanning booth on a regular basis. It is the number of cases of skin cancer caused by too much exposure to the sun that has led to this rise in alternative but safer methods. The latest method proving very popular (owing to its speed) is spray tanning as it only requires a single application. If you want to have a fake color that does not have streak marks then spraying seems to be the superior system over creams and lotions.

Although the popularity is still to be proved, systems using the new spray tanning technology have been designed for home use. Whichever method you decide upon there are some simple but basic steps needed to ensure the best effect. Probably the most important aspect and the first one to carry out is getting rid of the dead skin on your body by exfoliating. The last thing you want is to have dead skin dropping off and leaving lighter patches where it once was.

Once that stage has been completed, the body needs to be moisturized all over. Secondly, you always want to wear gloves if you are applying the tanning agent yourself to avoid getting the dreaded orange palms which are a dead give away that your tan is fake. Also, apply lighter coats on the joints of your fingers, your knees, and your elbows as these areas will appear darker if you do not and the same applies to your feet. Even spray tanning can cause the odd problem if there is an excess and it starts to run so take a towel you no longer want with you to wipe it off.

Don’t wiggle around a lot after applying the self tanning agent, remaining as motionless as possible will help to ensure an even tan. Don’t forget to wear some old clothes as fake tan is notorious for staining almost anything it touches. You should choose something dark and also maybe something you don’t particularly care for until the excess is worn off. Applying an artificial tan successfully means there are a few rules to follow which should ensure it looks as genuine as possible.

People searching for ways to have younger looking faces will probably arrange a course of Botox injections; despite how often this treatment is used, few people understand the method it uses. To understand exactly what it is and does, we first have to look at just how this amazing miracle of modern science came to be. It may be famous now for its use in cosmetic surgery but it wasn’t always that way when it was first being studied by scientists half a century ago; it was used to treat patients with neurological problems.

In 1989 it was finally approved by the FDA to treat eye muscle disorders; some of these included patients with excessive, involuntary blinking and for those suffering with crossed eyes plus, on occasion, wrinkles. By the new millennium it had been approved for a number of other conditions including cervical dystonia; this helps people with contractions in the upper back and shoulder and neck area, plus other eye disorders. The strange discovery they made quite by accident was that botox helps to reduce the visible lines between the eyebrows; it was after this discovery that it officially came into existence and was FDA approved for cosmetic use in 2002.

Botox paralyses the muscles that cause wrinkles keeping them in a relaxed state; in time frown lines gradually soften and subside if sufficient treatments are given. Continued treatments mean in many cases the lines disappear and now the same treatment is used on other areas of the face like the crows’ feet, laughter lines and other facial wrinkles. The form used in these injections is one that has been cleaned up and diluted, posing no threat; these treatments are only a fraction of the true strength which, in other forms, could make us seriously unwell.

Unfortunately, lines and creases form whenever we laugh (especially as we get older) or make any other facial gesture; they are caused by muscles contracting. After years of making these expressions the wear and tear on your face begins to be noticeable and the lines start to become permanent; when these creases become permanent, no kind of skin cream can get rid of them but this treatment can eliminate them temporarily. Muscles in the area of the botox injection become paralyzed temporarily so they cannot move fully; many people believe that overuse leaves the recipient with a look similar to that of a mannequin.

Because frown line, wrinkles and facial creases have all but disappeared, it provides the user with a look of someone much younger. Some will be happy that the people who can afford the treatment are still the wealthy with individual treatments still costing a great deal of money; this is why it has been coined as something only celebrities have performed because the least expensive injection can still cost upwards of 300 dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars. Whether there are any long term effects from continued use of botox is still unknown as the treatment is still to new but for those people who do use it, it doesn’t seem to matter.

Many people suffer with the skin condition known as acne or Zits; however, many effective treatments are available. Owing the widespread nature of this condition, scientific research into this area is intense; in fact many new remedies are proving very effective. Most acne skin care products can be broken down into three main areas:

    * Drugstore: Preventative treatment

* Drugstore: Relief treatment

* Prescription: Dermatologist or Doctor, specialist cream or ointment

Many skin care products are used as a measure to prevent acne; these products can be anything from skin cleansers to makeup removers. In the real sense, these products are just those that should be part of your daily routine; in many instances the user has never had a skin condition to worry about. Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint; devised primarily to limit the amount of oil or sebum forming in the pores. Excess oil needs to be stopped from clogging the pores as this oil make it easier for bacteria to grow, exacerbating the condition.

Other skin care treatments can help exfoliate the skin; most are readily available over the counter at drug stores or even online. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development. There are specialized acne skin care products available over-the-counter, they do not require the need of a prescription. A bacterium that aids the formation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid; they are designed to extract the excess oil that bacteria need to promote the development of acne.

Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide (less than 5.5 percent is recommended), just to see how the skin reacts; should a reaction occur, products containing alpha hydroxy acid are generally safer. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; if none of them work then you would be advised to contact your skin specialist. Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments.

Under certain circumstances, having the infected material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic may be suggested by your dermatologist; although this is a minor procedure, if it were performed by the person themselves it could result in skin damage. An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy; hormonal changes are known to cause acne and such skin care treatments often effective. Constant research has paid off, and whilst they cannot cure the condition, it is becoming easier to treat.

The regular use of anti-ageing skin care products is becoming normal these days; it is not unreasonable to want to continue looking youthful for as long as possible when you consider how much longer most of us are living! We achieve this with beauty products that synthesize the production of the protein collagen; collagen is so abundant, it makes up about a quarter of the total protein content of structural protein found in skin. This category of skin products is in fact related to another group of everyday products that help reduce the signs of aging; this group is called antioxidants and apart from their cell repairing ability, they may be able to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.

One of the best known anti-oxidants is vitamin C and despite continual research, no-one body involved can decide just exactly how much our body should consume on a daily basis. Vitamin C formulated skin care treatments suffer with a particular problem of oxidizing on contact with the air which causes a problem for users and manufacturers.

Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and also cheaper to produce. However, these anti-ageing skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant and is found in human blood; it has many functions including inhibiting the formation of cancer cells. Lipoic acid, which is found inside every cell of the body, helps generate the energy that keeps us alive and functioning; it can also help reduce the aging process which affects the skin.

Phytochemicals aren’t produced by the body but are extracted from a number of plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products to combat the signs of ageing. Phytochemicals prevent occurrence of certain types of cancer; examples of these are:

    * Prostate Cancer in Men

* Breast Cancer

* Cancer of the Colon

All of which are on the increase globally.

Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti-ageing skin care products. The field of anti-ageing skin care products is vast and needs a great deal more research. Although current regimes are quite effective, there are many ways to combat the effects of time; with the number of genetic discoveries made in recent years, it is only a matter of time before conquering the effects of age is commonplace.

There may be many challenges still to overcome but in time scientists believe they will succeed in producing more effective anti-ageing skin care products that are less expensive and available to more people. Scientific research into anti-aging products is still in the early stages but they should never be relied upon; fortunately there is a number of natural anti-aging regimes that can be carried out that do not rely on science. Natural methods are known, but few people actually follow them; what proportion of the population actually eats healthily, takes plenty of exercise, drink sufficient water and obtain restful and regular sleep?

Cellulite has become one of the most hated female conditions in recent years especially amongst those who are generally slim; most areas of the body can experience its effects but sufferers mainly have it below the abdomen. Although additional fat is normal in women, this is not just a problem exclusive to overweight women; the cottage cheese appearance so familiar with this condition can affect slim women as well.

Cellulite forms just below the surface of the skin in the thighs and buttocks region, where areas of fat collect and force themselves against the tissue creating a puckered look to the surface of the skin. Health experts have been trying to discover the cause for some time as it is not a condition that affects every woman but they believe it does have some connection to the way the fat cells are made and possibly how toxins enter and are stored within the body.

Two components of the skin that decrease with age are elastin and collagen, both of which may be responsible for the increase of these fatty cells as women grow older. Whilst many would disagree, this condition is often referred to a hormone imbalance problem as men almost never have this happen to them.

Even women who do not appear to have cellulite may have them and sometimes this is visible when the skin is compressed as in the case of squatting or when it is pinched between the thumb and forefinger; however as most women suffer with at some stage it seems to be a perfectly normal condition. Although it may not be known what causes, some factors seem to contribute to its build up including age, sex, extra fat carried and skin thickness all seem to aid the formation.

As medical science cannot prove conclusively what causes the problem, it makes it difficult creating a cure even though a number have been tried including special burning creams. Some clinics specialize in the removal of cellulite simply apply deep massaging to puff up the skin and temporarily reduce the cellulites appearance.

Perhaps the most drastic therapy is liposuction where fat is literally sucked from the body or the more expensive procedure of injecting certain chemicals in a process called mesotherapy. These known remedies offer only temporary relief and are likewise not advisable as liposuction for example should only be used to remove deep fats and is not very effective in the removal of cellulite.

For people who are prone to the problem, there are no magic treatments for selective removal but there are now a number of creams on the market which are designed to help hide the effect it brings. It can only really be reduced as part of an overall weight reduction program through adopting a healthy eating and living plan, together with increasing exercise, so that body fat is reduced rather than connective tissues.

If this is also followed by the adoption of drinking plenty of fresh water every day; unwanted toxins which can help in the formation of cellulite in the tissue are gradually removed.

Some people are more fortunate than others when it comes to how good their skin looks but how they achieve this is not a secret; some simple changes to your skin care regime which you will learn here will make all the difference. In the West, women have taken the task of staying attractive to extremes with the use of plastic surgery, liposuction and other invasive treatments. The best thing about modern beauty care products other than their cost is the fact they are generally natural so cannot harm the person who is using them.

The problem has always been our image of beauty care products like cold cream and the anti-aging formulations. Today’s products are able to do much more after the research that has been carried out and are an important addition to your personal care regime. We often forget that our skin is an organ that needs looking after as it has a difficult job to and needs regular help.

The first and most important step in any skin care regimen is to cleanse your face to remove any makeup, dust and bacteria that it has encountered throughout the day. This part must be carried out with a quality face cleanser placed on a cotton pad moved in a circular pattern then washed with clean warm water, drying with a soft towel but take care not to rub the skin when you do this.

Cleansers are very good at removing the contaminants from your face but they are prone to affect the PH of your skin so you will need to use a toner to restore the PH level one again. To reduce the number of wrinkles and help make your skin soft and supple, use moisturizing creams or lotions once you have finished with the skin toner. This beauty care product step helps to seal in your treatment and to lock in the natural moisture in your skin.

To ensure a more complete skin care cleansing experience and to remove dead skin cells, you will need to exfoliate or use a peel up to twice every week. Once you have exfoliated; a normal cleanse and then tone will be necessary as part of the process.

Eye creams are used to help maintain the delicate tissue surrounding your eye, these are specially formulated beauty care products that reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles or to help improve elasticity and firmness. Along with these simple steps above ensure you drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and eat a nutrient rich diet, all of which will help keep your skin looking youthful, radiant and beautiful. We often forget how much we rely on but take our skin for granted but if it becomes damaged it can lead to all sorts of problems.

Our skin is not the only part of our body that needs a regular supply of moisture to be healthy. Our lips, can become dry, cracked, and painful if not properly taken care of. Using a moisturizer on the lips themselves does not work. Fortunately, there are a variety of products that seal moisture into the lips.

The two best known lip balms are Chapstick and Blistex. Both are medicated, and which one works better is a matter of personal preference. Chapstick comes in a variety of flavors, while Blistex is sold in tube or balm format. To restore dry and cracked lips, simply apply the product as necessary until the lips are properly hydrated again.

If the conditions that caused the lips to become chapped continue, a daily application of either product will help keep the lips properly moisturized and prevent them from becoming cracked.

Applying lipstick may seem like an easy task, but the things the objects onto which lipstick itself can be transferred complicate the issue. Applying it from the tube seems like the easiest method, but is in fact the worst possible way to apply lipstick to the face. Instead it is best to apply it from the tube and then use a lip liner or your finger tips to even the application on your face. It should not outline the lips, but the color instead should be applied evenly for a more natural look.

Applying make up to dry or cracked lips can be a little tricky. The lipstick will not look right and is difficult to apply over these services. Fortunately applying a lip balm like Chapstick or Blistex will ease the problem and allow the lipstick to go over the mouth. Once the lipstick has been placed on the lips, apply it using smooth feathered strokes to achieve an even look.
